EU-Sol Manual Annotation Group

For work package 6.3 we are responsible for coordinating a network of biologist interested in providing manual annotation of the tomato genome annotation.

We are looking for volunteers who would be willing to check the gene models and the functional annotation produced by the iTAG Tomato genome annotation group. So far we have contacted all the members of the UK-SOL mailing list and have compiled a list and in the future we hope to recruit interested parties from the rest of the EU-Sol project.

We hope to employ a range of distibuted online annotation tools including the Apollo genome browser, for editing gene models, and the SGN locus and Phenotype database for editing functional and phenotypic data. We envisage that interested parties would have to spend no more than a couple of hours a year checking details of the genes or gene families that they research. In our role as coordinators we would provide technical support in using the tolls and track the amount of annotation submitted by the groups members. If this effort proves a success we would hope to stage small annual annotation meetings.

If you would like to join the manual annotation group please email Dr Daniel Buchan
